U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service Kanuti National Wildlife Refuge Mammals (USFWS) The Kanuti National Wildlife Refuge sits atop the Arctic Circle and is approximately 1.6 million acres in size. The refuge is home to a variety of wildlife species that depend on the boreal forest and tundra ecosystems of the refuge. Thirty six species of mammals are found in the refuge.
